Ok, so technically this isn’t my first post on here since I’ve already posted three flash fiction pieces. But this is the first blog post, so, yeah, just pretend it’s the first, we won’t count the flash fiction as a post.
Anywho, now that slightly confusing first paragraph is out of the way what am I going to talk about?
Well I guess I best chat about what I’m working on right now and about what you can expect from this website?
So I think I can safely say I’m a Pantser with a penchant for research and the vaguest use of a plan. Generally speaking I’m not a fast writer, and my habit of jumping between stories probably doesn’t help that, but at the moment it’s a way that works for me. That said I’ve got about eight different WIPs in my writing folder right now, only one of which is almost finished (just needs some revisions after being sent off to a couple of wonderful Beta readers, then I need to get a cover sorted and all the other bits and bobs that come with self-publishing my first story).
My almost finished work is a friends to lovers story that introduces you to the Shifters of my world. It’s a short story/novella at just over 12,000 words and I am both excited and absolutely bloody terrified to publish it. It’s the first in a series, the second instalment of which I’ve already thought of a vague plan, and done at least half the research for.
After this one gets published it’ll be a race to see which gets finished next. It’ll either be my vampire one or my cambion one…unless I get sudden inspiration for one of my others then it could be dragons or bird shifters or my shifter zoo or even my supermarket one. Watch this space I suppose.
So that’s all coming bookwise, for this website though? Well, you’ll find my freebie flash fictions which I write when I find a prompt that sparks my imagination. These are generally written, kinda proofread, then posted, so there might be the odd typo or grammar mistake that slips through the net.
Mainly you’re most likely to find posts on my world and various bits I come across in my research that I find interesting.
I doubt there’ll be anything really resembling writing help or advice on here like you find on most writing sites. That’s entirely due to the fact that I’m pretty much entirely self-taught with this whole writing malarkey and I’d rather not pass on bad habits I’ve probably picked up.
However I do have a board on Pinterest with writing tips from those far more knowledgeable than me if you want to have a nosy.
Oh! one last thing. Have you heard of Ko-fi?
If you like anything I’ve written, or feel like chucking some spare change my way like I’m some sort of street artist with an open guitar case before me, I’d be eternally grateful. If that’s not your thing, then no worries, just ignore the red button.
So, that’s it. My first blog post. I think I’ve got a bit of a learning curve coming, but I’m looking forward to it in a terrified yet determined kind of way.
